Installing Balsamiq Wireframes on Linux
Note: We don’t support Linux and we usually recommend our web-based app Balsamiq Cloud as a solution for Linux users.
However, the following steps might allow you to install the Windows version of Balsamiq Wireframes for Desktop on most Linux distros by using Flatpak.
Prerequisites
Setup
- Install Flatpak and the repositories
- Install Bottles from the Flatpak repository
- Download the current Balsamiq Wireframes for Desktop installer
- Create a new "bottle" with soda-7.0-9 runner. Be sure to use this specific runner. Other runners have problems
- Install Balsamiq Wireframes for Desktop "for all users"
- In the event of graphics issues, try disabling DXVK and VKD3D in Bottle preferences
Current limitation
The Export PDF option doesn't work if certain UTF-8 fonts are present (emoji, some Asian Language fonts, etc).
