Welcome Jonathan Race, business manager, and Arielle Kimbarovsky, head of marketing
Hi! I’m Arielle, the newest of two recent additions to the Balsamiq team. I joined Balsamiq in late November as Head of Marketing, just months after our new Business Manager, Jonathan Race (JR), joined. Both our roles are completely new to Balsamiq—shaped to help mark the next chapter in our journey.
Here’s the backstory I heard from Peldi:
About a year ago, we found ourselves wanting to go faster and deeper in certain parts of our business. The pre-JR and Arielle Balsamici started with the product, kicking off a period we call pruning. As that period evolved (and continues to evolve today), it was time to explore other areas we hadn’t spent as much time on before: marketing and business management. But our team only has so many hours in the day, and not all of them are meant for work.
So we decided to do what we rarely do: hire.
In marketing, Balsamiq needed someone to look at the big picture and think strategically about our community, brand, and business—all while keeping the heart of how we interact with the world. In business management, Balsamiq needed someone to focus on the numbers more than we have in the past.
This is where JR and I come in.
Jonathan Race (JR), Business Manager
JR’s team bio says that he assists with the bean counting and acts as the grease that supports the business, but it’s much more than that. JR joined us a few months ago, diving into our financials and navigating the tricky landscape that is a business built in two countries (United States and Italy).
Before joining Balsamiq, JR helped several companies build financial models and processes, leading both teams and projects. He’s already making us smarter and our spreadsheets better. We even started working together on the early stages of our marketing budget.
Arielle Kimbarovsky, Head of Marketing
Speaking of marketing budgets, I joined Balsamiq in late 2022 to lead marketing. Before joining Balsamiq, I helped several tech companies scale—building marketing strategies and teams that emphasize growth, brand building, and customer-first thinking.
It’s only been a few weeks, so I’m just getting started. You’ll see more of my work (and the whole Marketing Group’s) in the months to come.
After not hiring for nearly three years, I’m told that adding two team members in the span of months feels fast—in a good way. We’re excited to keep growing our community and build a product that makes your designs easier, faster, and better.
